The Scourge are one of the two main factions in the Defense of the Ancients.
In the Warcraft III campaign, a force was sent by Sargeras named the Legion of Doom, led by the Eredar Demon Archimonde, Defiler of Worlds, to conquer a world, and the Sentinel(Night Elves) are the protectors of this world. Eventually, the Legion of Doom's forces are conquered, but in the frozen wasteland of Northrend lay the Lich King, a former orc warlock turned celestial being who was entombed in a block of ice resembling a king's throne and given immense power by Kil'Jaeden, another Eredar Demon. The Lich King still has control over a vast amount of forces, named The Scourge, and this is the force that still fights the Sentinel to this day
The Scourge are currently trying to defend their ancient, The Frozen Throne, from the forces of The Sentinel. The Scourge are what some people would call evil, and this can be attributed to the fact that they use demon powers, and call upon the most fearsome creatures of the night to help win the war, as well as the fact that they have a corrupt fountain, and blighted ground surrounds their base. Their side of the land also includes one of the most powerful creatures in the world - Roshan, the Immortal.
